How Many Servings Are in a Bag?

A kitchen scale accurate to 0.1 g is the most reliable way to portion it. As a rough guide, a level teaspoon of fine creatine powder weighs around 3 to 5 g depending on how packed it is, so weigh a spoonful once to calibrate your own scoop.

How to Calculate Cost per Serving

The formula is simple: price per kilogram ÷ number of servings per kilogram. With 5 g servings there are 200 per kilogram, so a price of $20 per kg works out to $0.10 per serving. Mixing: Why It Does Not Fully Dissolve

Creatine monohydrate is only slightly soluble in cold water, roughly 13 to 14 g per litre at room temperature. A 5 g serving in a small glass of cold water will therefore leave some powder in suspension. That is normal and does not mean the product is poor quality. To mix it better:

• Stir or shake it into 250 ml or more of liquid, or use warm water or tea, where solubility is higher.
• Add it to a protein shake or smoothie, where the texture hides any undissolved particles.
• Drink it soon after mixing rather than storing it pre-mixed in liquid for days.

Storing a Bulk Bag

Creatine monohydrate is a stable powder, but it picks up moisture. In a humid Canadian summer an open bag will clump. Keep the bag tightly closed, or decant a week or two of supply into a small airtight jar and leave the main bag sealed. Store it in a cool, dry place away from the dishwasher, stove and bathroom. Clumps that break apart easily are just moisture and can be crushed. If the powder turns wet, sticky or discoloured, discard it.
